Alfaguara

Alfaguara is the label specialised in publishing works of fiction. Thanks to a back catalogue of thousands of publications, numerous best-sellers and the most prestigious authors, Alfaguara is, for many Spanish-language readers, synonymous with quality and a guarantee of good literature.

Since 1998, Alfaguara has sponsored the Alfaguara Literary Award. It is one of the most prestigious literary awards to be given to a previously unpublished Spanish-language novel and the award is well-known and respected worldwide. Prize-winning novels are published simultaneously in Spain and throughout Latin America.

Publishing activity in the area of fiction aimed at children and teenagers Alfaguara Infantil y Juvenil is based on two basic premises: the literary quality of the publications and the service provided to users. Aguilar

Aguilar is the label responsible for non-fiction works in Spanish. Set up over a decade ago, its catalogue covers a wide range of subjects that address the diverse needs of the general public.

Alamah

The publications of Alamah include titles in the area of personal development and the spiritual unity of humankind and are aimed at helping us reach a greater understanding of ourselves and our place in the universe.

Altea

The Altea label publishes informative general interest and reference books based on the premise that good, informative books create good readers. Subjects covered include topical issues of interest to younger readers.

Taurus

Taurus specialises works of non-fiction. Since it was set up in 1955, Taurus has been an intellectual touchstone for a generation of Spanish and Latin Americans.

Taurus is aimed at the inter-disciplinary reader who wants to keep abreast of the different current-interest topics through books which, though written with academic rigour by specialists, remain accessible to the general reader.

El País-Aguilar

Established in 1988, El País-Aguilar is one of the most renowned publishers of travel, leisure and gastronomy books.

A market leader in publishing quality travel guides, El País-Aguilar publishes some of the most popular collections in the guide-book sector, including the Guías Visuales (Visual Guides) and the Guías con Encanto (Guides to Charming Places). The constantly updated information is compiled and written by specialist journalists, thus guaranteeing a successful trip.

Objetiva

Editora Objetiva is a publishing house set up in Rio de Janeiro in the 1990s with a wide number of goals. Since the very beginning the house has published a wide variety of genres, including biography, fiction, history, politics, essay from renowned authors. In the space of a few years Objetiva has become one of the big names in Brazilian publishing.

The house embarked on a new phase of diversification and growth with its incorporation. in 2005, into Grupo Santillana. In September 2005 the Suma de Letras label was launched, covering fiction and entertainment. 2006 saw the launch of Alfaguara, a byword for literary excellence in Spain and Latin America. Through its strategy based on continuity and innovation and through the publishing of titles aimed at a wide and varied public, Objetiva hopes to consolidate its position across new segments of the Brazilian publishing market.
