Quality, innovation, and leadership in Spanish and Portuguese

Grupo Santillana

Grupo Santillana is responsible for all of PRISA's activities in publishing, education and training. It emerged from the publishing house of the same name, originally set up in 1960 with the mission of improving and bringing a spirit of innovation to school textbooks.

Grupo Santillana is currently active in 22 countries and is involved in a wide range of products and services including school textbooks (Santillana Education), executive training (Instituto Universitario de Postgrado-UIP), online learning (Santillana En Red), language-learning books (Richmond, Santillana Français, Santillana ELE, Santillana Español), general publishing (through publishing houses such as Alfaguara, Taurus, Aguilar, Objetiva o Salamandra) and distribution (Itaca y Librerías Crisol). Other services offered by Santillana include student-evaluation systems and quality management for educational centres.

In each of these business areas, Santillana is market leader thanks to its commitment to quality, innovation and service, all hallmarks of the company brand.

Santillana is active in Portugal through Constância Editores; and in Brazil through Editora Moderna y Editora Objetiva, publishers of school textbooks and general interest, respectively.

As the chief educational publisers in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking worlds, Grupo Santillana exercises its leadership responsibly, and works closely with teachers, students, governments and other key social players with the aim of improving educational practice and promoting the local culture of the regions where we operate.

To this end, in 1979 the group set up the Santillana Foundation, a private body aimed at promoting education, scientific research and culture. The Foundation has main offices in Spain, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil.
