Blendhub, Emite Ingeniería and NH Hoteles win the Cinco Días Awards for Business Innovation 2015

The winners of this year’s Cinco Días Awards for Business Innovation have been announced.  Blendhub Corp. has been awarded the prize forMost Innovative Business Initiative in the field of New Technologies for Portable Powder Blending, an engineering solution that has successfully enabled the creation of the world's first portable factory to produce high quality food powder blends. The company, with a track record of 20 years in the sector, seeks to  "spearhead change in the value chain of the food industry that allows access to basic food that is fairer and safer, thereby reaching more people and more places." The jury lauded the innovative value of the project, and the importance of finding solutions for the food industry globally.

 

The prize for the Award for Most Innovative Business Initiative in Association with a University has gone to Emite Ingeniería, a spin-off of the University of Cartagena, for its development of technology for the design, manufacturing and marketing of analyzers for multiple-input and multiple-output analyzersin the area of research, development and conformance testing systems and handsets and 4G devices. This technology ensures that terminals come on the market with speeds of up to 100Mbps within the margins of error specified. The jury praised "the international character of an already consolidated project, with good economic prospects and in a position to transform knowledge into business."

 

Finally, NH Hoteles has been awarded the Best Initiative in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility for its program Hoteles con Corazón (Hotels with a Heart), which collaborates with a number of hospitals and foundations and has helped more than a thousand families. The program offers hotel rooms to needy families of children with serious illnesses and gives them a place to stay when they have to travel for medical treatment. In its ten-year history, the project has donated 1,820 rooms, 22,000 hotel nights and has involved more than 20,000 company employees. The jury praised the good work of the initiative and the involvement of workers, key to turning hotel rooms into a second home for families going through difficult times.

 

The awards will be presented on November 15 at 8pm at the Campus Repsol Auditorium with the support of Repsol and CaixaBank.

 

The jury for this year’s awards was made up of Ricardo de Querol, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Cinco Días, who served as president of the jury; Inés Juste Bellosillo, president of the Association of Family Enterprises and president of Grupo Juste; José Carlos Díez, economist; Efrén Miranda, President of the Club of Entrepreneurship; Javier Moreno, editorial director of Grupo Prisa; Elena Gómez del Pozuelo, president of the Spanish Digital Economy Association; and Pedro Zuazua, communications director of PRISA Noticias, who served as secretary without voting rights.
