19-10-2016

  • Miguel Bosé, Dani Martín and Manuel Carrasco win the music awards.
  • For the first time in the history of the Ondas Awards, there was a prize for a series broadcast via youtube.

Barcelona, 19 October 2016.

At 5 pm today,  the jury for the 63rd edition of the Premios Ondas Awards announced this year’s prizewinners during a press conference held at the Toresky Studio at Radio Barcelona-Cadena SER.

Josep M. Martí opened the press conference by reading out the names of the winners, and announced the debut of a new prize category for a series broadcast via youtube. "The award for Best Web Series, which this year goes  to "Les Coses Grans”, highlights the Ondas Awards’ ability to adapt to the the times, and go far beyond conventional media”, he explained.

Vicente Jiménez, president of the jury for the radio categories, singled out the prize to Juan Carlos Ortega for his skill at inventing new formats in the area of radio humor. "Here is a professional who has his own identity. Always outside the box, he manages to be innovative in a genre such as humor where it can be difficult to be so," Jimenez said.

Augusto Delkáder, president of PRISA Radio and president of the jury for the national television categories, took the opportunity to argue that this is a key year for music radio: "This year sees the 50th anniversary of both LOS40 and Radio Clásica, which is why the Jury has decided to single out music radio for special honors. And it is fitting that we pay tribute to Tony Aguilar, undisputed symbol of the channel, and Martin Llade, who has successfully engaged audiences with a musical genre such as classical music – no easy task.”

He also highlighted the Special Jury Mention for the program "Cap nen sense joguina" anchored by Rosa Badia, and which for the past 50 years has run a Christmas campaign in aid of a good cause that airs on the night of January 5.

Delkáder also paid tribute to the format of the series Ministerio del Tiempo (Ministry of Time), which this year has been exported beyond Spain.

The awards ceremony for the 63rd Premios Ondas Awards will take place during the Grand Gala to be held in Barcelona on November 9. The Gala returns this year to its traditional venue, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and will be broadcast live on television on Movistar Plus.
