Augusto Delkader Teig studied law and journalism before furthering his studies in the UK and the US. He began his professional career at the newspaper Diario de Cádiz, where he was an editor and later managing editor. He was also on the staff of the newspaper Informaciones.
He was a founding member of El País where he has held a number of important posts, including a ten-year period as assistant editor. When El País acquired a majority stake in Cadena SER he joined the team at Spain’s leading radio broadcaster, starting out as head of the news department before becoming director of Cadena SER in charge of the four programmes then broadcast by the station.
On December 19, 1991, he was named Director General of Cadena SER.
On May 4, 1993, he was named President of the Social Council of the Universidad de Cádiz.
On May 12, 1997, he was re-elected as President of the Social Council of the Universidad de Cádiz by Andalucia’s regional government. He held the post till 2001.
On July 9, 1997, he was elected President of the Asociación Española de Radiodifusión Comercial (AERC), the Spanish commercial broadcasting association, an umbrella group for almost all the private broadcasters in the country. He remained in the post till July 1999.
In December, 1998, he was named CEO of Cadena SER and Unión Radio.
He holds the Gold Medal of Andalucía and has been been honoured by his home city Cadiz.
