Fernando Martínez holds a degree in Economics from Comillas Pontifical University (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE)). He began his professional career in the finance department of PRISA’s corporative centre, where he held a number of posts in the areas of management control and investment assessment. He had previously worked for Grupo Santillana.
In 1998, he was appointed head of planning and control at Sogecable and, in 1999 when the group went public, he was named head of investor relations. In 2001 he took over as head of financing at Sogecable while continuing to work in the fields of investor relations and management control. He has been in charge of general financial and economic policy at Sogecable since 2005.
