Manuel Polanco Moreno received his degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid, specializing in International Finance.
Manuel Polanco, whose professional career has been devoted to the company, has participated in practically all facets of PRISA’s activities, from the publishing and press sectors to advertising and audiovisual media.
In 1991 he was appointed to manage Santillana Chile, taking over the management of Santillana Peru a year later, and remaining in both posts until 1993 when he moved to Mexico City to take over as general manager of the La Prensa daily and to launch the American edition of El País.
At the end of 1996 and based in Miami, Manuel Polanco took over as international mamager of Grupo Editorial Santillana in the Americas, in charge of 21 companies throughout Latin America and the United States. Upon his return to Spain in 1999 he was appointed chairman of Gerencia de Medios (GDM), the first multimedia sales center in Spain and pioneer in advertising sales. Shortly thereafter he was made chairman of Grupo Empresarial de Medios Impresos (GMI), the umbrella company for PRISA’s regional and specialized publications.
In 2001, with GMI’s entry in Unidad de Negocio Medios España, Manuel Polanco managed both the Group’s regional and specialized publications while simultaneously working as associate manager of said Unidad.
In 2005 he was appointed chief executive officer of the Portuguese media group Media Capital, post that hold until 2009 when he was appointed General Manager of the PRISA Group.
He is member of the Board of PRISA since 2001 and also member of its Executive Committee.
He is also member of the Board of Sogecable and Unión Radio where he forms part also of the Executive Committee.
