Javier Monzón is a Madrid-born economist. He has spent his professional career in the financial, business and technology sectors. He was Director of Corporate Banking at Caja Madrid and managing partner of Arthur Andersen. He subsequently held a range of management positions at Telefonica, including CFO and managing director of Corporate Development. He was also president of Telefonica Internacional as well as president of Indra since its establishment in 1993 until 2015.
He is currently coordinating director and chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of Ferroglobe, as well as board member and chairman of Banco Santander’s (Spain) Risk, Regulation and Compliance Committee. He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Lagardère for ten years, and a director of ACS for twelve years, serving, currently, as director of ACS Servicios y Concesiones. He is also an investor and advisor to startups in the areas of technology and venture funds.
Javier Monzón is firmly committed to a number of non-profit organizations that support entrepreneurship, education and innovation. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board of the Carlos III University and is currently Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Program for Knowledge and Development at the CyD Foundation, as well as a director of Endeavor Spain and member of the International Advisory Council of Brookings.
