Environmental impact management PRISA is committed to reducing the costs and the impact 34 that our operations may have on the environment. The Group’s Environmental Security Policy includes a series of basic principles in the area of legal compliance that contribute to the continuous improvement of our operations: ƒƒ PRISA will comply with all applicable legal requirements, and will, whenever possible, make every effort to anticipate them. ƒƒ The group will actively strive to reduce and prevent pollution and waste, and to conserve energy in all its operations. ƒƒ The group will require its suppliers to conduct their operations in an environmentally responsible manner. ƒƒ The group will ensure the safety of industrial operations, to avoid negative impact on the environment. Control of energy consumption and waste During 2012, all Group companies have run campaigns to raise awareness and to foster a more rational use of energy at their facilities and to rationalize energy consumption. To this end it we are in contact with a number of energy efficiency consultants to analyze the efficiency of the range of systems that currently exist in the market. During 2013 projects will be launched to replace existing lighting with LED technology. The control of waste is an ongoing practice throughout the Group. In 2012 significant progress was made in the recycling of paper, cartridges, batteries, fluorescent tubes, used oil and cleaning materials.
