PRISA’s Board of Directors appoints Javier Monzón as non-executive deputy chairman

The Board of Directors of PRISA has agreed today to the appointment of Javier Monzón as the Group’s non-executive deputy chairman. The appointment comes in the wake of the successful capital increase recently concluded by the Group and is seen as a further step forward in strengthening the company’s corporate governance policy.

Javier Monzón (Madrid, 1956), a Board member since November 2017, is a recognized entrepreneur and economist, with expertise in finance and technology. He was Director of Corporate Banking at Caja Madrid and managing partner of Arthur Andersen in Corporate Finance Consulting Services. He has also held the positions of CFO and Director of Corporate Development and International Operations at Telefónica, as well as President of Telefonica Internacional.

He served as Chairman of Indra since its creation in 1993 until January 2015. He is currently Coordinating Director and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of Ferroglobe, and a member of Santander’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Santander Spain’s Risk and Compliance Committee. He has also been a member of the Supervisory Board of Lagardère. He has been a director of ACS for twelve years, serving as director of ACS Servicios y Concesiones. He is also an investor and advisor to startups in the areas of technology and venture funds.

Javier Monzón is firmly committed to a number of non-profit organizations that support entrepreneurship, education and innovation. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board of the Carlos III University and is currently Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Program for Knowledge and Development at the CyD Foundation, as well as a director of Endeavor Spain and member of the International Advisory Council of Brookings.
