 Special awards for the albums "Lorca Flamenco" and "Juanito Valderrama 1916-2016", the latter a tribute to the singer from Jaen by his son Juan Valderrama

 The awards gala will feature performances by Soles, Javier Stan, Cristian Guerrero, La Húngara and Melody

 The radio station has also presented VALDERRAMA Y OLÉ, the new program that Juan Valderrama debuts tomorrow

 

 Radiolé, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Regional Government of Andalusia and Seville City Council announced this morning at a press conference the winners of the awards Premios Radiolé 2016, which will handed out on November 3 at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla (FIBES). This is the second outing for the awards, with which Spain’s leading network for Spanish popular and flamenco music honors the leading figures in Spanish music.

 This year’s big winners include Diana Navarro, Arcángel, Paco Candela, Andy & Lucas, David Barrull, Marina, Parrita, Adrián, Pitingo, Javi Cantero and El Balilla. The station has also given two special awards for the albums "Lorca Flamenco", a tribute to Federico García Lorca, and "Juanito Valderrama 1916-2016", the lattera tribute to the singer from Jaen by his son Juan Valderrama, on the centenary of his birth.

 Addressing the press conference were Eva Cebrián, director of PRISA Radio’s Music Stations in Spain; Antonio Yélamo, regional director of SER in Andalusia; Francisco Javier Fernández Hernández, Head of Tourism and Sport for the region of Andalusia; Juan Espadas, mayor of Seville; and Miguel Ángel Corral, director of Radiolé. Also in attendance was Dolores Romero Chacón, president of APASCIDE (Spanish Association of Families of People with Deafness and Blindness).

 Antonio Yélamo, presenting the event, highlighted Radiolé’s choice, for the second consecutive year, of the city of Seville as the venue for the awards and stressed the charitable nature of the event, which this year will be donating part of the proceeds to APASCIDE, an Association for the Deaf and Blind in Seville, and the only such organization in Spain.

 Meanwhile, Eva Cebrián addressed all of the winning artists. "It is an honor for Radiolé that such vital and acclaimed artists are part of these awards," she said. "These awards single out the favorite artists of Radiolé’s audience," said Miguel Ángel Corral, director of Radiolé.

 Javier Fernández Hernández, Head of Tourism and Sports of the Andalusian Regional Government underlined that "the city chosen for the awards is so beautiful that you could even sing about it in English", adding that he hoped that the awards would be the perfect excuse for Radiolé fans everywhere to come to Seville. "I am delighted that the winning artists are mostly from the south" added Juan Espadas, mayor of Sevilla, before thanking Radiolé for its work in the city.

 Some of the winners also attended the press conference and spoke of their excitement. Diana Navarro said she was "honored to have been at last year’s gala to present my record Resiliencia and to be honored at this year’s ceremony.” "We’re delighted to be recognized in our home region by a station that every day treats its audience to music from the south", said the members of Andy & Lucas.

 Arcángel was eager to stress the charitable nature of the of the gala: "The best way to spend your time is in helping others," he said. He thanked Radiolé for promoting flamenco among the general public, and for doing so so proudly. "If artists can do their bit to help people in need, it’s fantastic, and they can always count on me," said Paco Candela.

 Meanwhile, Juan Valderrama will host the new program VALDERRAMA Y OLÉ, which will be broadcast on every Saturday, starting September 10, from 10 am to 2 pm. The magazine-format show will be featuring interviews with leading figures from the genre and sections designed to entertain and provide alternative entertainment. Valderrama recalled how he had grown and developed in the company of other artists and their affection, and that Radiolé feels like home.

 The gala awards ceremony will take place on November 3 at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla (FIBES) and will feature performances by Soles, Javier Stan, Cristian Guerrero, La Húngara and Melody. Part of the proceeds will go to APASCIDE (Spanish Association of Families of People with Deafness and Blindness).
