07-07-2009

According to second-round figures from audit bureau EGM (Estudio General de Medios), corresponding to the second quarter of 2009, Cadena SER has consolidated its robust lead in the Spanish radio sector, with 4,673,000 listeners daily, Monday through Friday.

All the station's programs are audience-share leaders in their respective time slots, 24 hours a day. Cadena SER thus caps a 15-year run as Spain's audience-share leader, with its listenership greater than that of all its nearest rivals combined.

Morning program Hoy por Hoy, presented by Carlos Francino, is once again radio's most listened to program, with 2,767,000 listeners. In the afternoons, La Ventana, with Gemma Nierga, has also consolidated its position and widened its lead over its nearest rivals, with 803,000 listeners tuning in. In the night-time slot, Hora 25, with Ángels Barceló, maintains its lead with 1,351,000 listeners, while El Larguero, with José Ramón de la Morena, closed the season as clear front-runner among sports programs with 1,415,000 listeners.

Cadena SER is also the top-ranking station at weekends. A Vivir que son dos días, with Montserrat Domínguez, is unrivaled leader in the weekend morning slot, with 1,544,000 listeners on Saturdays and 1,373,000 on Sundays. Carrusel Deportivo tops the league among sports programs at weekends. The show, presented by Paco González, Pepe Domingo Castaño and Manolo Lama has 1,768,000 listeners on Saturdays and 1,900,000 on Sundays. Milenio 3, anchored by Iker Jiménez, is leader in the late-night slot on Saturdays with 643,000 listeners. Los Toros, anchored by Manolo Molés and broadcast late night Sunday, has seen its lead and audience share grow, with 590,000 listeners tuning in. The new Saturday afternoon program, El Viajero, with Jesús Gallego, Toni Aguilar and Adriana Mourelos, had a great first season and is now leader in its time slot with an audience of 342,000.

40 Principlaes, number one for music

Los 40 Principales is comfortably, once again, the most listened to music radio station in Spain. With 3,396,000 listeners, it enjoys a clear lead in the music broadcasting sector and is the second most popular station in Spain, after SER. Its program Anda Ya, with Frank Blanco, has an audience of 1,807,000.

Cadena DIAL is the country's second most popular music station, with 1,773,000 listeners. M-80 Radio has 584,000 listeners daily. Máxima FM continues to beat all its own records and in this latest EGM survey has 555,000 listeners. Radiolé has an audience of 454,000.
