Cinco Días and Ferrovial host a working breakfast on corporate social responsibility

The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has undergone continuous development since its consolidation as a new model of business management. CSR is today understood as a way of managing a business that takes into account not only the results but also how these results are achieved. It thereby seeks to generate value in the medium and long term and ensure its sustainability. This crucial evolution is an ongoing process, attendees were told at the working breakfast organized by Cinco Días, in collaboration with Ferrovial.

"CSR is companies. It is difficult to understand a company that wants to be an active player in the society in which it operates yet is not aware that companies need to act responsibly in various fields," said Francisco Polo, director of communications and social responsibility at Ferrovial.

Participants at the Cinco Días working breakfast agreed that large Spanish companies had made significant headway on international CSR. Although there remains, as Carmen Casero stressed, an issue that still need to be addressed: involving SMEs in the CSR challenge.
