Cuatro makes history with promo trailer for Lost

02-12-2009

The final season, the promotional trailer broadcast by Cuatro last Sunday for the sixth and final season of the series Lost has gone global in just 24 hours.

Carlton Cusen, executive co-producer of the series, publicly praised the trailer on Twitter, saying it was the best he'd ever seen. Newspapers, magazines and websites worldwide have made it a talking point; the Los Angeles Times, the New York Post, New York Entertainment and Entertainment Weekly are among the leading publications to have stood up and noticed.

In just two days, the trailer was watched 22,500 times on Cuatro's Youtube Channel, with a further 182,291 hits garnered for the version subtitled in English, which was uploaded by a fan within minutes of broadcast. The promo also brought Cuatro's Lost site www.cuatro.com/perdidos its maximum number of visits ever this season.

Worldwide, Internet users were eager to see the trailer -inspired by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges and the Persian poet and mathematician Omar Khayyam- in which the island is portrayed as a chess board and the characters as the pieces, a metaphor for the themes of destiny and fate which are woven through the plot of Lost.

The sixth season of Lost premiers on Cuatro in February 2010.
