Three EL PAÍS projects among the finalists for the Lovie Awards

The Lovie Awards, awarded by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), have announced the finalists for the sixth edition of the prizes. The organization, which seeks to promote the use of technology, creativity, and connectivity, as well as digital training, made public. on Wednesday, the list of nominees in five categories: online advertising, websites, mobile and applications, Internet video and social. The awards, among the most prestigious in the world and of which EL PAÍS is a media partner, honor the best of the year on the Internet.

Three EL PAÍS projects are among the finalists this year:

The EL PAÍS mobile application has been nominated in the Mobile and Applications category in the section News and Entertainment. The newspaper’s revamped tool allows readers to access the news quickly and easily on their mobile devices. The application was created from scratch to make the most of the latest possibilities offered by technology.

Fukushima, vidas contaminadas (Fukushima, contaminated lives), the first EL PAÍS report to be shot in 360 degrees, has also been nominated. It is the first major report by a Spanish media outlet in virtual reality and allows the user to travel to ground zero at the Fukushima nuclear plant five years after the disaster.

The Librotea project has also been nominated. This is an online book recommendation platform that allows readers to share their literary suggestions, as well as to get to know writers, literary critics, essayists, bloggers and key cultural players from the worlds of film, music and the visual arts.

In addition, the special produced to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Cervantes and Shakespeare has received a mention and is in the running for the People’s Award, and can be voted for here.

All projects, including the finalists, may compete for the People’s Awards. Voting will be open until September 22.

The winners will be announced on September 27 and will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held in London on October 27.
