Marking its 30th anniversary, the Fundación Santillana increases its activities and unveils a new web site

21-07-2009

The Fundación Santillana has programmed an increasing number of events and has launched a new web site aimed at becoming a meeting place and an invaluable resource for education and culture.

Building on its wide, varied and prestigious track record in the area of education, the Foundation has planned a comprehensive calendar of cultural events such as the Formentor Literary Conversations Series, which marks its 50th anniversary this autumn. There's also a series of events organized around the Jesús de Polanco Chair for Ibero-American studies; the literary event Lessons and Masters (Lecciones y Maestros), held each year in Santillana in collaboration with the university UIMP; and the prestigious  International Don Quijote de la Mancha Award, as well as other more recently developed initiatives. For instance, the Foundation is also working on a number of new projects such as the Seminar on Narrative and Journalism, which will consist of workshops and talks on  the teaching of literary journalism in Latin America. And then there's the future web portal that will promote the work of Spanish-speaking thinkers and writers in the US, developed in collaboration with the Fundación Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes.

www.fundacionsantillana.com is designed as an open, vibrant and plural platform with the goal of fostering educational and cultural initiatives, of developing closer ties between Spain and the Americas, of organizing international forums for intellectual debate, and of fostering initiatives in the fields of publishing, information and education -areas in which the Fundación Santillana has an excellent track record since it was set up in 1979.

The new web site provides detailed information on the four headquarters of the Foundation: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Spain. The home page allows access to the chief content pages which provide information on events, cultural and educational activities and multimedia material. There's also a top-navigation bar which takes the user to publications, further information on current events and related links.

The Fundación Santillana is a Grupo PRISA initiative.
