PRISA will sell 25% stake of Santillana

PRISA will sell a 25% stake of Santillana Group (100% owned by PRISA), once the preliminary agreement reached with the private equity fund DLJ South American Partners is finished. Santillana Group, leader in school books and general edition books in Spain and Latam has been valued in $1.45bn.

This operation is in line with PRISA strategic plans to incorporate capital, technology and Knowledge to the different business units. For Santillana, this agreement means the entrance of a new partner to develop complementary activities in Latam, mainly in Brazil and Mexico.

DLJ South American Partners is a private equity fund which invests in private companies in Latam mainly in Brazil, Chile and Argentina. With this preliminary agreement DLJ expands its activities in Spain, Portugal and EEUU at the same time that brings to Santillana the deep Knowledge of the Latam markets thanks to its more than 20 years of experience in this area.
