a) Use of Cookies and Web Bugs by GRUPO PRISA Websites:

GRUPO PRISA websites use cookies and similar technologies (hereinafter, Cookies). Cookies are files sent to a browser by a web server to record the User's activities on a particular site or all sites, apps and / or services provided by the websites of GRUPO PRISA (hereinafter the Services). The primary purpose of cookies is to provide the user faster access to selected services. In addition, Cookies personalize the Services offered by the Websites of GRUPO PRISA, thereby facilitating and giving each user information that is of interest or that may be of interest, in response to their use of the Services.

Cookies are associated exclusively with a code (ID) that identifies the device and browser used on each visit, and thus do not provide any information that could be used to infer the user's personal data.

The user is free to configure their browser so that it will notify them and reject the installation of cookies sent by GRUPO PRISA Websites, without affecting the ability of the user to access the Content. It should be noted, however, that this may adversely affect the performance of Services.

Users who register or who have logged in to a session may benefit from services that are more personalized and targeted to their profile. These services may be either offered by Grupo PRISA or by third parties with whom Grupo PRISA has signed agreements, and will be tailored by using a combination of the data stored in cookies and the personal data they supplied at the time of registration. Users expressly authorize the use of this information for these purposes, without prejudice to their right to reject or disable cookies. All information will be treated as indicated in the Privacy Policy or Clause that has been accepted by the user when they registered, and as indicated in this Cookies Policy.

Furthermore, the Websites of GRUPO PRISA will be made aware of all those GRUPO PRISA services requested by Users, thereby enabling them to facilitate or offer information tailored to the interests and preferences of each User.

b) Type, purpose and functioning of Cookies:

Cookies, depending on their degree of permanence, may be defined as either session or persistent Cookies. The former expire when the User closes the browser. The latter expire when the purpose they serve has been met (for example, so that the user remains identified to the Services of GRUPO PRISA) or when manually deleted.

Additionally, depending on their purpose, Cookies can be classified as follows:

PERFORMANCE COOKIES: These Cookies remember your preferences for the tools found in the Services, meaning the service doesn’t need to be re-configured every time you visit. For example, this type of Cookie would include:

Volume level for playback of video and audio.

Video transfer speeds that are compatible with your browser.

Storing items in the ‘shopping cart’ for e-commerce Services such as online stores.

GEOLOCATION COOKIES: these cookies are used to ascertain in which country users are located when they request a Service. These Cookies are completely anonymous, and are only used to help provide content that is appropriate to the location.

TRAFFIC LOG COOKIES: Traffic Log Cookies are created when a User has registered or when they later open a session, and are used to identify the User to the Services with the following aims:

To keep the User identified so that if they close a Service, the browser or the device and later return to said service they will continue to be identified, making their browsing experience easier by not having to re-identify themselves. This functionally can be cancelled if the User uses the ‘Close Session’ option, thereby eliminating the Cookie. The next time the User opens the Service they will be required to start a session in order to be identified.

To check that the User is authorised to access certain Services, for example to take part in a competition.

Additionally, some services may use connectors with social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. When the User registers with a Service using credentials from a social media network, they authorise the social media network to store a persistent Cookie that remembers their identity and guarantees access to the Services until expiry. The User may delete this Cookie and revoke their access to the Services via the social media network by updating the preferences on the specific social media network.

ANALYTICAL COOKIES: Every time a User visits a Service, an External Provider Tool (Omniture, Netscope, Comscore as well as others that may be added to this list) generates an analytical Cookie on the User’s computer. This Cookie, which is only created during the visit, will serve on future visits to anonymously identify the visitor to the Services of GRUPO PRISA. The main aims are:

To allow for the anonymous identification of Users through the Cookie (which identifies browsers and devices, but not individuals) and therefore an approximate estimate of the number of visitors and the amount of time they spend using the Service.

To anonymously identify the content that is most visited and therefore the most attractive to Users.

To determine if the User accessing the Service is a new or a repeat visitor.

NB: Except in those cases in which a User decides to register with a Service of GRUPO PRISA, the Cookie will never be associated with any data of a personal nature that could be used to identify them. Said Cookies will only be used for statistical purposes that help optimise the User’s experience on the website.

AD-SERVING COOKIES: This type of Cookie allows for improvements in the advertising information displayed to each anonymous User of GRUPO PRISA Services. Among other things, they store the duration or the frequency with which display ads are viewed, interactions with ads, web browsing patterns and/or User behaviour, on the basis that these help to build up a profile of advertising interests. This makes it possible to offer advertising that is tailored to the User's interests.

THIRD PARTY AD-SERVING COOKIES: In addition to the advertising managed by GRUPO PRISA websites in their services, GRUPO PRISA websites offer advertisers the option of serving adverts through third parties. (“Ad-Servers”). Thus, these third parties can store Cookies sent by the Services of GRUPO PRISA derived from Users’ browsers, as well as access any data stored on them.

Companies that generate these cookies have their own privacy policies.

Currently, the Websites of GRUPO PRISA use the Doubleclick (Google) platform to manage these advertising services. For more information, visit http://www.google.es/policies/privacy/ads/#toc-doubleclick and http://www.google.es/policies/privacy/ads/.

c) How to disable cookies and Web Bugs in major browsers:

It is normally possible to reject cookies from the browser, or to refuse to accept Cookies from a particular Service.

All modern browsers allow users to change their Cookie settings. These settings are normally to be found in the 'Options' or 'Preferences' in your browser menu. Browsers and mail managers can also be configured, or free add-ons can be installed, to prevent Web Bugs from being downloaded upon opening an e-mail.

GRUPO PRISA’s websites offer Users instructions on the steps that are required in order to access the cookie settings menu and, where appropriate, the private browsing settings in each of the major browsers:

Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy -> Settings.

For more information, please see Microsoft support or your browser's Help menu.

Firefox: Preferences -> Privacy -> Use Custom Settings for History.

For more information, please see Mozilla support or your browser's Help menu.

Chrome: Settings -> Show advanced settings -> Privacy -> Content settings.

For more information, please see Google support or your browser's Help menu.

Safari: Preferences -> Privacy.

For more information, please see Apple support or your browser's Help section.

d) What happens if cookies are disabled:

Some features of the Services are disabled, for example, remaining identified, keeping items in the ‘Shopping Cart’ on e-commerce services, receiving information tailored to your location and the ability to view some videos.

UPDATES AND CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY/COOKIES POLICY:

The Websites of GRUPO PRISA may modify this Policy Cookies in compliance with legal or regulatory requirements, or with the aim of adapting said policy to instructions issued by the Spanish Data Protection Agency. Users are therefore advised to make regular visits.

Whenever significant changes are made to this Cookies Policy, users will be duly notified on the website or by email to registered Users.
