Daniel Gavela (León, 1948) has pursued a successful career across a wide range of major media: daily and weekly newspapers, radio, television, and corporate communications. He worked at EL PAÍS (1977-1988) as writer, head of the Spain section, chief editor of the newspaper and finally as editor-in-chief of El País Semanal (1984-1988). He later became the first Director of Communications and Institutional Relations of PRISA (1988-1994).

He was subsequently appointed managing director of SER (1994-2001) and later managing director of SER-Union Radio (2001-2006), with direct responsibility for content. During his tenure, the network saw audiences increase from 2.8 to 5.7 million (the current record for radio) and all programs ranked as audience share leaders 24 hours a day.

Also during his time as managing director of SER-Union Radio (2001-2006), he repositioned all the radio formats, both music and programs, which resulted in strong leadership over the following years. He has been Chairman of Cadena SER and president of the Spanish Association of Commercial Radio. He later served as managing director of TV channel Cuatro and CNN + (2006-2010), where he also oversaw content.

He dissociated himself from PRISA while the process of selling Cuatro to Mediaset was underway. He is an executive producer at Ganga Producciones on the documentary series Ochéntame otra vez (five seasons) which currently airs on TVE and has won an Ondas Award for best television series and best documentary.

Vicente Jiménez (Barcelona, 1962) has a degree in journalism from the School of Information Sciences at the UAB. He began his career, between 1984 and 1990, at El Periodico de Catalunya, Grupo Zeta, and later that year joined the editorial staff of El País in Madrid. In January 1994, he took the helm at EL PAÍS de las Tentaciones, a weekly entertainment supplement known for its innovative character, its fresh design and groundbreaking approach to youth culture. Subsequently, he held, successively, the positions of chief editor of Madrid news and editor of the Society section.

In 1999, he was appointed deputy managing editor of El Pais, a position he held for six years, and where he focused on political affairs and the coordination of the six regional newspaper editions.

In September 2005, Jimenez was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of El País. During the nine years he was in this position the newspaper underwent its thorough digital transformation, becoming the Number One online Spanish newspaper, with new digital editions for the Americas and Brazil. From May 2014, Vicente Jimenez worked in New York as a correspondent. In February 2015 he was appointed managing director of SER and its music stations.

During his time as deputy managing editor of El País, Jimenez completed a management development course at the IESE Business School in Madrid. He is trustee of the EL PAÍS-UAM School of Journalism and is a Fellow of the German Marshall Foundation.

He began his career in local journalism, working for Radio Alcoy - Cadena SER. In 2004, he co-founded the first online music radio in Spain: scannerFM. This indie music radio won, in 2005, an Ondas Award for best news coverage for its coverage of the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona.

From 2006 to 2015 he was CDO at PRISA Radio in Spain, leading digital media strategy for music stations such as Los40.com. In 2008, he led a major re-launch of this web portal, offering a catalog of more than 4 million songs, around 10,000 video clips and one of the first social networks in Spain. Years later, with the birth of new platforms, he oversaw the adoption of social networks as a natural vehicle for radio communication with audiences and he created the first mobile app for PRISA’s music stations.

Over the past two years he has directed the music stations of Grupo RPP in Peru, among which are the historical Studio92. He has also overseen key work in the digital transformation of television and news radio.
