Cadena SER closes the quarter with an absolute audience lead: 4,353,000 listeners and a 37,4% share for spoken word radio

  • SER registers a 37.4% audience share, 14.5 percent higher than COPE, its closest competitor
  • Hoy por Hoy reaches 2,928,000 listeners, enjoying a lead of one million over Carlos Herrera on COPE
  • Hora 25 is audience leader for late evening news, with 1,127,000 listeners
  • A vivir is the second most popular radio program in Spain, and registered a record 2,252,000 listeners on Saturdays, three times as many as its competitors, and 1,477,000 on Sundays
  • El Larguero is the top evening sports program with 915,000 fans 
  • Carrusel Deportivo's lead is undisputed on both Saturdays, with 1,845,000 listeners, and Sundays, with 1,830,000 listeners

Latest EGM figures show radio network Cadena SER closing the quarter as overall audience share leader. SER registered 4,353,000 listeners from Monday to Friday, more than a million and a half ahead of COPE, which ranked second; Onda Cero had 1,849,000 listeners, and state  broadcaster RNE 1,417,000 listeners.

 

SER’s entertainment and news programs are clear leaders

 

Hoy por Hoy had 2,928,000 listeners. Pepa Bueno and Gema Nierga beat COPE’s Carlos Herrera by 1,061,000 listeners.

Hora 14, anchored by José Antonio Marcos, is the country’s favorite lunchtime news program with 524,000 listeners. Weekend news, with Esther Bazán, had an audience of 346,000 listeners on Saturdays and 292,000 on Sundays.

La Ventana with Carles Francino had 852,000 listeners.

Àngels Barceló’s Hora 25 reported 1,127,000 listeners, way ahead of its main rival, COPE’s La Linterna.

Javier del Pino’s  A vivir que son dos días remains the second most listened to radio program in Spain. According to latest EGM figueres, the popular show had 2,252,000 and 1,477,000 listeners on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Hablar por Hablar, which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, had 206,000 listeners; Oh MY LOL! reported 221,000 listeners; Negra y Criminal makes its first appearance on the EGM scoreboard with 89,000; Contigo Dentro had 243,000; Acento Robinson had 310,000 fans; SER Consumidor registered 229,000; SER Aventureros had 197,000, Nadie sabe nada had 475,000, and Los Toros stands at 58,000 listeners.

 

Cadena SER sports programming is top of the league

 

Francisco José Delgado’s SER Deportivos had 423,000 fans.

El Larguero, with José Ramón de la Morena, registered 915,000 listeners, almost double its nearest competitor, COPE’s El Partido de las 12

Carrusel Deportivo, Spain’s oldest sports show, maintains its lead yet again this quarter. The sports program headed by Jesús Gallego had 1,845,000 listeners on Saturday and 1,830,000 on Sunday. Carrusel Deportivo rules the airwaves once again even though its chief rival broadcasts for two more hours on Saturday, and two and a half hours more on Sunday.

 

Top of the charts for music with Los40 at No. 1

 

Los40, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, continues to top the ranking among music stations, with audiences up 2.6% compared to the previous quarter.

Los40 consolidates its lead with 75,000 new listeners for a total of 2,975,000 daily fans.

Daniel Moreno’s Anda Ya, the undisputed leader for music radio in Spain, increased its audience by 25,000 listeners for a total 1,680,000 daily.

‘Lo + 40’, with Xavi Martinez, had 309,000 listeners. No te cortes, with Uri Sabat, had 101,000, and Yu: no te pierdas nada, presented by Dani Mateo, had a total of 306,000.

Del 40 al 1, with Tony Aguilar, had 1,323,000 fans and ranked third nationwide for music shows.

Cadena Dial consolidated its position as the second most listened to music radio station with 2,211,000 fans.

Atrévete, anchored by Jaime Cantizano, had 1,364,000 listeners and remains the second most listened to music radio program.

Rafa Cano’s Dial tal cual had 1,244,000 listeners.

PRISA Radio’s other music stations reported the following results: Máxima FM has 571,000 listeners and the morning station Mucho Max has 225.000; M80 Radio has 448,000 listeners, and 80 y la madre and Ya veremos recorded 162,000 and 69,000 fans respectively. Radiolé has 583,000 listeners with 340,000 tuning in to the program Café Olé.

 

Audience leaders for Internet radio
