The Grandes Profes, Grandes Iniciativas (Great Teachers, Great Initiatives) Awards celebrate another successful gala

The Grandes Profes, Grandes Iniciativas (Great Teachers, Great Initiatives) Awards have quickly become a fixture in the education calendar. The awards – given out yesterday in Madrid – see SANTILLANA, in collaboration with the ATRESMEDIA Foundation and SAMSUNG, honor the teachers and schools behind inspiring and innovative initiatives that set an example.

The monologue performer Angel Rielo, aka El Feliciólogo, was the presenter of this, the third such awards gala, held at the Giner de los Rios Foundation in Madrid.

Among the attendees were José Luis Escudero, head of Marketing and Promotions at Santillana España; Francisco Hortigüela, director of Corporate Citizenship, Communications and Institutional Relations at Samsung Spain; and Carmen Bieger, director of the ATRESMEDIA Foundation, as well as  leading figures from the worlds of education and business.

The awards ceremony also featured a presentation by academic and expert in educational innovation, Fernando Trujillo, who noted that education "is a commitment to life and to the world". His talk was a sincere and at times emotional tribute to teachers, and he stressed that their work "is aimed directly at the very heart of being."
