PRISA lends its support to Earth Hour

26-03-2015

Grupo PRISA will be participating, for the seventh consecutive year, in the WWF campaign Earth Hour, the largest global movement in defense of the environment, to be held on March 28 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

This initiative, whose centerpiece is a mass symbolic blackout in public and private buildings across all the world’s time zones, has already mobilized over the years hundreds of millions of people worldwide. But beyond the merely symbolic gesture of turning off the lights, this year the campaign will be demanding concrete measures to "change climate change", a few months ahead of the global climate deal to be hammered out at the UN climate conference in Paris (COP21) .

PRISA supports this global endeavor through all its media outlets, rolling out a far-reaching operation that involves all media throughout all countries where the media group is active: television, radio, press and Internet. The awareness campaign is given mass coverage in the pages of El País, Cinco Días, AS and Huffington Post, on Cadena SER and all PRISA Radio stations, and by the publisher Santillana. In addition, the Group will be leveraging its particularly active presence on social networks to spread the campaign among its more than 32 million followers; and encourages the participation of its more than 10,000 employees through its internal communication channels and corporate websites.
