The Santillana Foundation and the University of Anahuac sign an agreement for collaboration and academic cooperation

01-09-2015

The Universidad Anáhuac México Norte and the Santillana Foundation signed last August 25 an agreement for collaboration and academic cooperation, which aims to create a Research Chair on Digital Skills.

Given the new challenges of teaching and learning in the digital society, both institutions agree on the need for research to experiment and validate innovative and successful teaching strategies. To this end, the new research chair will contribute to the development, testing, validation and widespread application of those models of educational intervention that allow for the greater integration of digital skills in basic education, both with regard to the students as well as the training of teachers.

The signing of the agreement sets in motion a research plan that aims to identify and evaluate the digital skills of pupils, analyze and evaluate strategies for teachers to develop these skills and, ultimately, to implement the conclusions and results in schools: initially in Latin America and in Spain among schools in the Semper Altius network, the International Center for Integral Formation (ICIF) and other public and private educational institutions in the region.

The event was attended by several university officials and members of the Faculty of Education as well as representatives of the Santillana Foundation, including Jesús Quirce Andrés, rector of the Universidad Anahuac, and Luz del Carmen Davalos Murillo, director of the Faculty of Education. The Santillana Foundation was represented by its director of Education, Mariano Jabonero Blanco, who was accompanied by Juan Arzoz Arbide, director of Santillana Mexico

The Research Chair on Digital Skills will be linked to the Faculty of Education at the Universidad Anahuac, under the coordination of its director, Luz del Carmen Dávalos Murillo.
