The work of Planeta Futuro is honored

05-06-2015

In recent weeks, several reports published in Planeta Futuro (launched just a year and a half ago), have won important awards for journalism and photography. All have a common denominator: the commitment of their authors to get closer to some of the toughest stories in the world.

Chronic situations, entrenched poverty and underdevelopment, conflicts and disadvantage, and a lack of rights and opportunities that affect millions of people, are often forgotten and pushed aside in the welter of news with which the media daily bombards its readers. From Syria to Ethiopia and from Hong Kong to Colombia, reporters such as Ander Izaguirre, Zigor Aldama, Natalia Quiroga and Lola Hierro have travelled far and wide, have witnessed and experienced, and have photographed and written.

They’ve come home armed with data and details of the vicissitudes of lives marked by immigration, hunger, war or the vagaries of climate and the environment. They have shown that these are important and relevant stories. For all of us. And their work has now been recognized for its journalistic quality and critique.

Here you can read the winning stories. Congratulations to the whole Planeta Futuro team for their excellent work!
