Xavier Pujol is named company secretary and chief legal officer of PRISA

Xavier Pujol Tobeña has been appointed company secretary of PRISA and its Board of Directors, following a favorable report from both the Appointments and Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committees. In his new position, as well the corporate duties entailed in the post, as Chief Legal Officer he will be responsible for the management of the legal department of the Group, overseeing and coordinating all legal services of the various business units.

After 17 years of service and commitment to the Group, outgoing secretary Antonio García-Mon Maranés has resigned. The Board of Directors has expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Garcia-Mon for his dedication and performance at PRISA. Pujol was named deputy company secretary of PRISA in 2014, a position he has till now combined with that of secretary of the Board of PRISA Radio and general counsel in the press and radio units.

Xavier Pujol (1980) holds a degree and Masters in Law from ESADE, and was visiting student at the University of Minnesota and on the PLD program at IESE.

He started his professional career at Cuatrecasas, including a period as a secondee at the London office of Herbert Smith. In January 2007, he joined Latham & Watkins as a senior associate of the American office when the firm opened in Spain and he later worked at the London office.

In January 2013 he was appointed counsel at Latham & Watkins and in September of the same year he joined Prisa as director of the Legal Department of PRISA Radio and Noticias. Since October 2014 he has been deputy secretary of the Board of Directors of PRISA, as well as general counsel in the press and radio units.

As a lawyer he has advised on a wide range of corporate transactions in sectors such as energy, financial, telecommunications and new technologies. He also has extensive experience in corporate matters, corporate governance and financial restructuring.
