Alejandro Nieto appointed CEO of SER

Alejandro Nieto Molina has been appointed CEO of SER. The appointment marks the start a a new phase which will see PRISA Radio embarking on a sweeping overhaul of current radio formats, technological innovation and the production and broadcast of its content across all digital platforms.

Alejandro Nieto, born in Bogotá (Colombia) in 1968, is a journalist and industrial engineer. He also studied the Advanced Management Program at the University of Los Andes in Bogota. He began his career in radio in 1993 by setting up and managing "LA MEGA", a pop & rock music station in Colombia. At Radio Caracol he directed both music and current affairs programs. He anchored the midday news bulletin and worked on the Colombian version of Hoy por Hoy with Darío Arizmendi until he was appointed Assistant Manager of Programming for Radio Caracol in 2003. Two years later he moved to USA to work on the expansion of PRISA Radio as Vice President of Programming and, since 2006, he has managed the standardization of the group's common global news discourse across the production centers that PRISA Radio operates in Spain and the Americas. In this role he was responsible for leading the project "Una sola radio...de ida y vuelta" with the creation of shared radio products (Hora 25 Global, the US elections, Worldcup coverage...).

Nieto replaces Raúl Rodríguez González, who in recent years has strengthened the leadership of the Grupo SER in Spain, and established it as the visible benchmark for Spanish radio broadcasting.
