Álex M. Roig and Manuel Mirat named new general managers for Pay TV

Sogecable CEO Pedro García Guillén has embarked on a reorganization of the company's Pay TV arm, aimed at relaunching the digital platform, enhancing content and boosting the business prospects and distribution of Digital+, while at the same time developing new business outlets for the company.

He has thus appointed Álex Martínez Roig as new general manager for Pay TV content. Mr Roig will also oversee rights purchase and management. Manuel Mirat has been named Digital+ general manager overseeing the areas of management, marketing and development of new businesses.

The reorganization also includes the appointment of Domingo Nieto as new chief operations manager at Sogecable, who will have the responsibilities till now held by Manuel Mirat: finance, human resources, technical services and technology.

Álex Martínez Roig (Barcelona, 1959) began his professional career at Radio Barcelona (SER) in 1977. He was a member of the team that founded the newspaper "El Periódico de Catalunya" in 1978 and he joined the editorial team at El País in 1982, where he has held a number of top posts, including deputy managing editor. In 2005, he was named head of programming at Digital+.

Manuel Mirat's (Cáceres, 1970) educational qualifications include a degree in Law from the Universidad de Salamanca, a specialization in Tax Law from the Instituto de Empresa, another in Auditing and Company Analysis from Arthur Andersen and another awarded under the General Management Program at the IESE Business School. Mirat was director at Grupo Prisa's tax division from 1997 until 2001 when he became Finance Director, a post he held till 2004. He then became a Prisacom CEO, before being appointed chief operations manager at Sogecable.

Domingo Nieto (Madrid, 1962) holds a degree in Business and an MBA. After working in the finance department at General Motors in Spain, he was named chief financial officer at Via Digital (Telefónica). In 2006, after Via Digital merged with Sogecable, he was appointed operations manager, and subsequently general manager at Catsa, before becoming marketing manager at Digital+.

Ignacio Campo, till now general manager at Digital+, has decided to pursue new career opportunities after many years of dedicated service to the company.
