As.com scores Spanish and Portuguese design award

The sixth annual ÑH6 interactive design and infographic awards for Spain and Portugal, organized by the Spanish chapter of the Society for News Design (SNDE) has honored AS.com, ElPaís.com, CincoDías.com and Cuatro.com.

AS.com won the award for best online design for sites with over 12 million page views per month. It's the first time the sports portal has won the top prize in this category.

ElPaís.com's special Roundup of the Year was also among the winners in the online publications category for page design for special coverage, and As.com's Annual Sport's Roundup  received a special mention in the same category. The redesign of Cuatro.com and CincoDías.com were also lauded by the jury.

The ÑH awards were established with the aim of fostering quality in the field of visual journalism in Spain and Portugal, of encouraging high standards of journalism through design, photography, infographics and illustration, and of recognizing good practice in media of any format. The 2009 awards correspond to media activity between September 2008 and August 2009.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 14 at the end of the sixth ÑH congress.
