AS Sports Club is launched, an initiative to support Spanish amateur sport

Sports daily AS has taken yet another step to support Spanish sport and with the launch of AS Sports Club (AS Club Deportivo), a project that allows clubs and athletes to create and maintain a website free of charge that will be hosted and accessed at as.com

The launch of AS Club Deportivo took place today at the Madrid headquarters of the sports daily AS and was addressed by Miguel Cardenal, chairman of the Sports Council, and Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, who both praised the newspaper’s initiative. The event, presented by the director of AS, Alfredo Relaño was also attended by leading figures from Spanish sport, such as Javier Tebas, president of the LFP; Luis Rubiales, president of the AFE; Enrique Cerezo, Atletico Madrid president; Ana Muñoz, Director of the Spanish Agency for Health Protection and Anti-Doping, and former sportsmen, including Juan Antonio Coralan, Paco Llorente and Adelardo Rodríguez.

Club Deportivo AS is set to become the virtual headquarters for all teams in Spain, of all sports and all competitions ... From federated teams, university, school and municipal teams, to company leagues, and private leagues ... And also of individual athletes (runners, cyclists ...). All Spanish amateur sport will have a welcome at the Club Deportivo AS, an initiative to support the millions of athletes in Spain.

Those thousands and thousands of clubs, teams and Spanish athletes can now -- completely free of charge -- create their own websites on the AS portal, the benchmark site for sport with nearly two million daily visitors. Here, they will share the spotlight with the greats of Spanish sport, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico, Valencia and Sevilla, plus Rafa Nadal, Fernando Alonso, Pau Gasol and Alberto Contador.
