05-07-2010

Cadena SER has closed the season by reconfirming its lead in the Spanish radio sector with 4.688 million according to official figures from auditing bureau Estudio General de Medios for the second quarter of 2010.

All Cadena SER programs are clear leaders, 24 hours a day.

Cadena SER has more listeners than its three private competitors combined.

Hoy por Hoy, anchored by Carles Francino, is once again the most listened to program on Spanish radio, with 2.66 million listeners.

La Ventana, with Gemma Nierga, confirms its lead in the evening slot, increasing its audience to 828,000 listeners per day.

El Larguero, with José Ramón de la Morena, ends the season by strengthening its position as undisputed leader among the evening sports shows, with 1.363 million listeners - an increase of more than 100,000 new listeners.

SER's news and current affairs programs are the most popular on air among Spanish listeners: Hora 25, anchored by Angels Barceló, saw its audience climb and has consolidated its lead in the night-time slot with 1.378 million listeners; Hora14, with José Antonio Marcos, is the top-ranking afternoon news program, with 609 000 listeners tuning in. The weekend news programs, with Jesus Cintora, are also audience-share leaders.

Cadena SER is also audience-share leader in the late-night slot. Hablar por Hablar, with Macarena Berlin, reaches 556,000 listeners, and Si amanece nos vamos, with Roberto Sanchez, draws in 187,000 listeners.

At the weekend, SER also rules the airwaves. A Vivir que son dos días, with Montserrat Dominguez, has 1.558 million and 1.441 million listeners on Saturdays on Sundays, respectively. Carrusel Deportivo closed the season with more listeners than last year to lead the field among weekend sports programs, with 1.759 million and 1.953 million listeners on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. Millennium 3, with Iker Jimenez, with 584,000 listeners, and Los Toros, with Manolo Moles, with 565,000 listeners, also lead in their respective time slots.

SER's music channels set new ratings records and are audience-share leaders in Spain.

40 Principales crushed all the competition throughout Spain, with 4.122 million listeners - an increase of half a million people since the last round of EGM figures. 40 Principales thus consolidates itself as the second most listened to channel in Spain, surpassed only by Cadena SER itself. Anda Ya, 40 Principales' early-morning program, anchored by Frank White, has attracted 235,000 new listeners and now reaches 2.105 million fans per day, making it the country's second most listened to radio program, beaten only by Hoy por Hoy.
