Cadena SER today unveiled program content for the new season, 2010-2011, with the slogan, Cadena SER, a team, no matter what, and the mission to boost its lead from a solid base of respect, responsibility and strength provided by team work. On Friday, September 10, the directors and anchors of SER's most important current affairs programs - Carles Francino, Angels Barceló, Gemma Nierga and Montserrat Domínguez - will together interview the Spanish prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Augusto Delkáder, CEO of Unión Radio, highlighted the work and efforts of everyone involved in the project. "More than 3,300 professionals work at Unión Radio and their vocation is simply to do things well. That's why he stressed the importance of teams because even the smallest of SER´s and Unión Radio´s broadcast stations are an intangible asset that we mean to develop, and we are committed to providing them with the most advanced technical instruments." SER, said the CEO, "wouldn't be possible without the work of anonymous people".
Augusto Delkáder added that "a leader is obliged to undergo a process of continuous renewal without following anybody else. We remain committed to our vocation to lead, and our independence is based on robust results."
Javier Pons, deputy managing director of Unión Radio, stressed the importance of investment in technology and human capital at the broadcaster. "Technological innovation will enable radio to become a powerful generator of digital content," he said. He also highlighted the three levels strategic operations:"local, international and global".
Daniel Anido, director of Cadena SER, reiterated the commitment to development and constant updating of content production systems. "Radio," he said, "is a collective endeavour and this allows us to conserve a crucial element of our programming: coherence."
In the coming weeks, SER will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the program Hablar por Hablar, with a special program planned featuring all the presenters who have anchored the show over the years. Also celebrating an anniversary is bullfighting program Los Toros, directed by Manolo Molés, which has been on air for 30 years.
Another important date this coming season will be in October: magazine programs Hoy por Hoy, La Ventana, Hora 25 and A Vivir will each day broadcast from a different location over an intensive two week period. Daniel Anido explained "that you all know what we're looking for - indeed it's our duty to seek it out - namely, the talent and knowledge that's out there in Spanish society." That's something the program El Larguero is already doing as it follows the cycling race, La Vuelta. The new Carrusel also has a few novelties in the pipeline and will be bringing listeners all the best in sport.
For the new head of sports programming, Laura Martínez, "it's a dream come true" to be part of the radio broadcaster. "We're going to make sports program history at SER," she added. "Looking back, it is very gratifying to know that you're in a company where you can go places - and I'm not merely referring to myself but to everybody behind the mics. For a professional to know that they can grow and develop is of vital importance."
José Ramón de la Morena, director of El Larguero, said that "there is no shortage of radio broadcasters, some of them very important. But this is real radio." SER, he said, "is sports and history. Radio is Carrusel, radio is Hora 25." He also mentioned the signing up of new, young talent to the sports desk.
The presenter and director of La Ventana, Gemma Nierga, said the broadcast station was "a constant source of talent and one that brings out the best in everyone. Working here is an antidote to vanity," said Gemma, who added that she felt "brave and indefatigable" with her team.
