CANAL + to be available via the Imagenio TV package

- CANAL +, Spain's leading Premium TV channel, is to be available through the digital TV platform Imagenio from 18 August, operated by Telefonica's Movistar, the broadband communications and entertainment company.

- Thanks to the wholesale multi-distribution deal launched by DIGITAL + this season aimed at all operators of pay television, the new channel Abono Futbol will also be available via Movistar's Imagenio from August 20. This is just the latest initiative that forms part of DIGITAL +'s commitment to football fans. Abono Futbol is a weekend football channel that this season will offer 4 games from over the last year available in pay per view format, as well matches from the Europa League and the best international leagues (Premier, Calcio, Bundesliga, the Dutch Eredivisie, and the leagues from Argentina and Brazil).

CANAL + has taken yet another step in its strategy of digital multi-distribution across all platforms available on the Spanish market and, as of August 18, will be available through Movistar's Imagenio, thus making more widely available the unrivaled range of exclusive content that has made CANAL + the benchmark for quality television in Spain.

Movistar Imagenio customers will be now able to enjoy the CANAL + experience, a new way of understanding and enjoying television based on quality and difference. Highlights for the new season include the fourth season of True Blood , the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce and the much anticipated Pan Am.

And then there's football. The Premier League (Liga BBVA) is to be broadcast every Sunday in the 2011-12 season at the earlier time of 8pm and the number of matches is to be substantially higher, with CANAL + turning the spotlight on the two heavyweights of the league by offering 22 matches featuring  Real Madrid or FC Barcelona (6 more than last season).
