Cinco Días celebrates issue number 10,000

06-02-2013

Tomorrow, Thursday, February 7, issue number 10,000 of the business and finance newspaper Cinco Días hits the newsstands. In a special issue to mark the event, the publication chronicles the ups and downs of the economy since the newspaper first came out in March 1978 and focusses on the challenges facing us now.

The publication, Spain’s oldest financial newspaper, has been a privileged witness to the transformation of Spain's economy over this crucial period.

In No.10,000, Cinco Días gives a detailed review of the turnaround the economy has undergone since the economic autarchy of the Franco era to become one of the most dynamic post-industrial economies of the euro zone. Despite the current crisis, Spain can now boast leading companies in a range of sectors (banking, infrastructure, telephone, pharmaceutical research, renewable energy, business schools, tourism), with a level of prestige and recognition unthinkable 35 years ago.

Cinco Días is confident, that despite the current environment, these strengths will guarantee a recovery of Spain’s economy, employment, wealth and welfare. Despite relentless pressure from emerging economies, and the gradual shift in Spain from a manufacturing to a service economy, Spain has survived the successive crises with qualitative and quantitative leaps in activity, as chronicled in the 64 pages of this special issue.
