Danone, Grupo Matarromera and Ecopapel have won this year's Cinco Dias Awards for Business Innovation, which recognize the most innovative initiatives in the business world across three categories:
Matarromera Group for developing the first quality alcohol-free wine range in Spain, which is marketed under the brand Emina Zero.0.
Ecopapel, for their joint research project with the University of Cordoba to industrially produce cellulose pulp using agricultural waste as raw material (wheat straw), as well as for their ongoing collaboration since1987 with the Department of Chemical Engineering of the same University to generate new projects.
The awards - organized by Spain's veteran business and finance daily, the Prisa-owned Cinco Dias - this year celebrate their fourth edition. The winners were selected from among 100 entrants in Madrid..
The awards jury, chaired by Joaquin Estefania, director of the UAM / El Pais School of Journalism, was composed of Emilio Ontiveros, founder and president of Analistas Financieros Internacionales, Ignacio Manrique, deputy CEO of Panda Security, Joaquin Chacon, CEO of Saft Batteries, Gregorio Panadero, Director of Communications and Brand at BBVA and Jorge Rivera, editor of Cinco Dias.
The award, instituted three years ago to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the newspaper, is sponsored by La Caixa and Repsol.
The winners will receive a commemorative sculpture by the artist Cristina Iglesias, and the ceremony will be held on October 17 at the Museo del Prado, Madrid.
