16-06-2010

The director of the Radio Caracol program 6 AM Hoy por Hoy, Darío Arizmendi Posada, has been awarded the Order of Voraigne by the Colombian newspaper La Nación.

Arizmendi received the award in recognition of his vital contribution to the development of journalism at a national level and the strengthening of democracy. The prestigious award was presented to the journalist by Jesús Oviedo Pérez, president of the editorial board at La Nación, during a ceremony held at the José Eustasio Rivera Convention Center in the city of Neiva.

"I believe in honorable journalism that is informed by an ethical code and that is always at the service of the most disadvantaged and the most noble of causes. Journalism is both a vocation and a passion that can create animosities. It's a profession that has to be lived to the full," said Darío Arizmendi, as he accepted his award.

Also honored was Mauricio González, president of Colombia's Constitutional Court.
