Discover and enjoy a wide range of titles from Prisa Ediciones on Google Play

20-09-2012

Prisa Ediciones (Santillana’s general-interest publishing label) has made its entire digital catalog available on Books on Google Play, which was launched in Spain last June. The catalog includes a total of 2,070 titles from Alfaguara, Taurus, Aguilar, El País-Aguilar, Suma and Alfaguara Infantil y Juvenil (Children and Youth) in 22 countries, of which 1,071 are from Spain and the rest from Latin America. It is anticipated that by the end of this year the number of Santillana ebooks available on Google Play will exceed 2,500.

Prisa Ediciones’ catalog includes fiction, essays, children and youth-interest, food, travel and current affairs from important national and international authors. In recent weeks, the front page of Google Play has promoted the work of Australian author Kate Morton and a campaign is soon to be launched with the slogan "Alfaguara, signing up the best authors," which will embrace a wide selection of books by José Saramago, Carlos Fuentes, Javier Marias, Mario Vargas Llosa, Mario Benedetti, Rosa Montero, ...as well as the winning books from the Alfaguara Novel Award.

With Google Play you can read the book of your choice on the device of your choice. Since the books are available online, you can access them from your phone or tablet and pick up from exactly where you left off the last time. You can discover, buy and read books on Android phones and tablets, from your computer and from iPhones and iPads.

Santillana believes that this agreement will contribute to the revitalization of the digital book market in Spain. "For us it is crucial that our range of ebooks be available on an integrated platform like Google Play. Android-format customers have more options to purchase cultural content and this undoubtedly favors the development of digital publishing," said Armado Collazos, Managing Director of Prisa Ediciones.

The agreement with Google is part of the ongoing endeavor by Prisa Ediciones and Santillana to make  its digital catalog  available to readers on all platforms and devices, with the ultimate goal of providing users with a real reading experience.
