El País launches BuenaVida, a new health and wellness magazine

31-05-2014

Launching a new magazine such as BuenaVida is a major challenge. It is a global project in the area of health and wellness that responds to the growing interest in health issues among general readers and, specifically El País readers.  Health and wellness publications saw circulation grow by 9% in 2013 according to EGM. And 83% of readers say they are eager to be fit and active. Advertising spending in the health sector, meanwhile, grew 30% in 2013, according Infoadex.

BuenaVida hopes to meet the the challenge of becoming the place to go to for health and wellness related news and information. According to the Socio-demographic Report on internet Users, 65% of Internet users go online for health-related queries.

People not only want to know more, but they also need better information. And that's what BuenaVida is for. It is committed to using the best specialists - content will be subject to the utmost rigor that characterizes EL PAÍS - and translating their expertise and knowledge into everyday language that the reader can understand.

BuenaVida’s philosophy is to entertain and inspire. It invites readers to enjoy life; it encourages them to take those little steps that will help them achieve a fuller, healthier life; it strives to make them aware of the planet we live on -- because if we cannot guarantee the health, of the planet, we can do little to guarantee our own health or that of our children.

It will offer accessible interviews, simple tips, and achievable goals

You don’t just read BuenaVida-- you live it. What’s more, it’s a celebration of all things good in life: delicious recipes, idyllic sustainable holidays and excursions,

ethical shopping, simple and inspiring lives plus lots of information to help the reader to make the best decisions for his or her life.

Issue number one comes out with El País on Thursday May 22, and thereafter, on the second-last Thursday of each month. But it’s also part of a multimedia platform, with an online version to be hosted on ELPAIS.com in the coming weeks plus an Android and IOS app, available at Apple Store, Google Play and  Kiosko+, where the reader can avail of additional content such as videos featuring our experts giving them all the information they need to form their own opinions.
