EL PAÍS has consolidated its lead as Spain's top newspaper. Between January and September, the newspaper had an average circulation of 371,567 copies, a slight decrease of 1% on the previous year's figure in a context of sharp declines in other newspaper titles.
According to figures from the audit bureau OJD, pending audit, the gap between EL PAÍS and the second-ranking paper is more than 117,000 copies.
The main sports dailies have also seen a downward trend this year. As fell by 8% between January and September and circulation now stands at 201,866 copies. Among the business and finance dailies, Cinco Días grew by 1%, reaching 31,405 copies.
