El Hormiguero wins the Rose D’Or 2009 Award

06-05-2009

El Hormiguero, presented by Pablo Motos and broadcast by Cuatro, has joined the roll call of best European TV productions of 2009. Produced by 7 y Acción, it won the prestigious Rose D'Or Award in the category Best Entertainment Program.

The Rose D'Or Awards are considered, along with the Emmys, to be the most prestigious international television awards, as well as a shop window for program formats ahead of MIPCOM, the media-content fair held in Cannes every year. No Spanish TV program had won the award in ten years.

The jury, made up of more than 20 TV professionals from around the world, praised the program's originality. El Hormiguero beat off stiff competition from the other nominees, including Wipeout (produced by Endemol USA), Last Choir Standing, (BBC, UK), Million Dollar Wedding (Eyeworks Entertainment, Netherlands) and Supertalent (RTL, Germany).
