El País closes the year as absolute market leader

PRISA's newspaper posts an average accumulated circulation figure of 391,816 copies.

El País has confirmed its lead once again as absolute market leader among the print media in Spain. PRISA's newspaper closed 2009 with an average accumulated circulation figure of 391,816 copies -90,000 more than its closest competitor in the general-interest news media market, which reported a figure of 300,174.

El País's biggest lead is on Sundays, with the paper posting a figure of 631,061 compared to the rival's figure of 373,986.

Among the sports press, As  closed the year with a figure of 215,297 copies. And business and finance daily Cinco Días reported a figure of 33,300.
