El Pais reconfirms its lead among Spanish press

Newspaper El País closed the first eight months of the year with an indisputable lead among the non-giveaway press. El Pais closed the January-August period with an average daily circulation of 391,853 copies, positioning Grupo PRISA's general news publication ahead of its nearest rival by almost 90,000 copies a day, according to auditing figures from OJD (pending certification). More than 90% of the circulation gap can be accounted for through higher El Pais kiosk sales. 

In the arena of sports press, As scored an accumulated figure of 212,421 copies and holds it market share at almost 43%.

Yet another month running, the paper ranks first in terms of sales and distribution in the Madrid region with 64,783 copies. It also ranks number one in Catalonia, Castilla La Mancha, Almería, Jaén, Málaga, Ávila, Segovia, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Barcelona, Tarragona and Badajoz.
