El País strengthens its lead, with two million readers

El País has reconfirmed its lead among Spain's general-interest press, according to latest figures from audit bureau EGM (Estudio General de Medios) with the paper enjoying a significant lead over its competitors.

PRISA's newspaper reported 2,012,000 readers over the period October 2009 to May 2010, a figure similar to that of the previous round of data.

Among the sports press, As had 1,362,000 readers daily, a 4.4% increase. And business and finance daily paper Cinco Días reported a figure of 66,000.

Weekend supplement El País Semanal had 2,312,000 readers, while the magazine Digital+ had 2.9 million readers.
