Mad Men and Grey Gardens among the big winners at the awards ceremony

Canal+ TV series, films and productions have triumphed once again at the Golden Globes,  the awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and held tonight in Los Angeles.

Mad Men, the hit TV show set in a 1960s advertising agency, won the evening's top award for the third year running in the category for Best Television Series -Drama. Canal+ began broadcasting the show's third season on January 9, with the series going out every Saturday at 9.30pm.

Another of the night's big winners was the made-for-TV film Grey Gardens, which will soon air on Canal+. The HBO production follows the life of two women related to Jackie Kennedy and the production took home the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture Made for Television and for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Made for Television (Drew Barrymore).

Also honored was the TV film Taking Chance (Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television - Kevin Bacon), which will also be broadcast by Canal+; and Big Love which, after being nominated on seven occasions, finally won a well-deserved award in the category for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, with the gong going to Chloë Sevigny.

In the motion picture category, the big winner was Avatar, the 3D blockbuster, which will be broadcast by Canal+. It took home the awards for Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Director (James Cameron).

Other films to be broadcast by Canal+ also won prizes, including Crazy Heart (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, Jeff Bridges, and Best Original Song); Julie & Julia (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical, Meryl Streep); Inglourious Basterds (Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, Christoph Waltz); Precious (Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture , Mo´nique); and the German film The White Ribbon (Best Foreign Language Film).

Up,, the film produced by Pixar and playing on the Digital+ box-office channel Taquilla  3 since last Friday, won for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score. Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical went to The Vegas Hangover (Resacón en Las Vegas), available on Taquilla 1 since January 14. Coming soon on the box-office service provided by Digital + is Up in the Air, starring George Clooney and winner of the award for Best Screenplay.
