Gran Vía Musical acquires 70% of RLM, Spain’s leading music management company

29-06-2008

Gran Vía Musical (GVM), Grupo PRISA's musical arm, has acquired a majority stake (70%) in Spain's leading music management and booking agency, Rosa Lagarrigue Management (RLM). The operation also includes Merchandising On Stage (MOS), an RLM company dedicated to the development of artists' rights and brands in the world of leisure and entertainment.

These latest moves broaden the cooperation between the two companies that began in 1999, when GVM and RLM began working together through Planet Events, which promotes international concert tours and handles bookings in Spain.

Planet currently ranks among the top 30 companies worldwide in the sector, and in recent years has promoted the Spanish leg of tours for Shakira, Maná, Juanes, Alejandro Fernandez, Caetano Veloso y Franco Battiato as well as handling bookings for David Bisbal, Baute and Edurne.

Rosa Laguirre, who founded RLM in 1980 and is renowned worldwide in the music business, will remain at the helm of the company. Her artists include Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bosé, Ana Torroja, Mecano, Malú, David Demaría, Marlango, Revolver, Raphael, Paloma San Basilio and Alberto Iglesias.

Grupo PRISA, meanwhile, has shown once again its commitment to the music industry, both in the media as well as in the field of concert and artist management. Coupled with the group's latest online initiatives, the move makes PRISA a leading player in the music world in Spain and throughout Latin America.
