The 26th annual Ortega y Gasset Awards for Journalism, sponsored by El País, have been awarded to the Spanish journalist Jorge Martínez Reverte, in the category Best Report, for his article Una muerte digna (A Death with Dignity), published in El País (España). In the Digital Press category, the award went to Spanish journalist Amaya García Ortiz de Jocano, who wrote the article Clase de historia a pie de fosa, (History Class from the Mass Graves) published by Elmundo.es, for her work on awareness of historic memory and the work being carried out on the exhumation of mass graves.

The image of the ex-Prime minister Adollfo Suarez strolling with the King Juan Carlos, widely published, and taken by Suarez's son, Adolfo Suárez Illana, was the clear winner in the Graphic Journalism category.

The jury also recognized the brilliant work and contribution to the Spanish language of the Argentinian writer and journalist Tomás Eloy Martínez for his long and varied career in the category of a Lifetime Dedicated to the Profession.
