Management team strengthened at Prisas’s news arm, PRISA Noticias

PRISA Noticias, Prisa’s news arm, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Julio Alonso and Matilde Casado as managing directors, the former in charge the EL PAÍS publisher’s operations, and the latter in charge of the finance and resources.

In addition, both professionals will have further duties: Alonso has been appointed managing editor of El País while Casado will head the Internet and Press Services Group (ASIP).

Julio Alonso is a graduate of  ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas), and has worked at Grupo PRISA since 1995. As CFO, he oversaw the IPO of the company. He was subsequently managing director of resources at newspaper El País and of the Internet and Press Services Group (ASIP). a role he combined with head of strategy and business development at PRISA Noticias.

Matilde Casado , who holds a degree in Economics, joined the company in 1989 as part of the founding team of Canal +, and where she worked as was CFO, a position she later held at Sogecable before becoming director of administration and finance at Grupo PRISA.
