PRISA launches new aplications for Internet-Connected TVs

01-08-2011

PRISA thus expands its content to users of LG TVs with access to Smart TV. Existing content will be added and updated constantly, and the TV itself will alert the user of all the latest features and content.

The EL PAÍS application allows users to watch breaking news, current events in images and video, cartoons, and the BBVA league football scores. Meanwhile, the AS application provides all the latest news, the day's sports results, the BBVA league football scores and the day's best photos. Finally, the los40.com app lets users listen live to the Top 40, see the latest pop chart and find out all the latest news on bands and performers.

Smart TV technology allows users to surf the Internet from their TV set, thanks to a user-friendly interface and the Magic Motion Remote Control, which lets you point, click and enjoy the best of the web. Smart TV offers exclusive content and applications specially adapted for the TV. News and information from EL PAÍS, AS and Los40 will also be available to anyone who has their TVs equipped with Smarty, a multimedia center that can transform any conventional TV into a Smart TV system, via an HDMI connection.

Televisions with Internet access are set to become an essential feature in households in the near future: by 2014, it is forecast that there will be around 120 million such TVs in the world, compared with the estimated 40 million today, representing 3% of the total TV market.
