PRISA media reaffirm their lead

Cadena SER is set to close the year as Spain’s leading radio network. The network’s revamped schedules and new lineup attracted 262,000 new listeners giving the station an audience figure of 4.914 million listeners, up over the previous quarter and allowing it to widen its lead over its nearest competitor.

All of the station’s programs remain audience leaders:  Hoy por Hoy, La Ventana, Hora 25, El Larguero, Carrusel Deportivo…

The program Hoy por Hoy, directed by Pepa Bueno and Gemma Nierga now has 3.227 million listeners. This is the second best figure in the program's history and reinforces its position as Spain’s leading radio news and current affairs program

News bulletin Hora 14, with Jose Antonio Marcos, attracted 40,000 new listeners, putting it at 681,000 listeners daily.

La Ventana saw a spectacular rise - by over 16% and 139,000 new listeners - bringing its total audience figure to almost 1 million. 971,000 people  tune in every day to Carles Francino, almost double the figure of his nearest competitor.

Hora 25 remains the ratings leader for nighttime news, with 1,337,000 listeners. Angels Barceló has twice as many listeners as his closest competitor with his news program, which in 2012 celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The flagship sports program El Larguero , which airs after midnight, continues to increase its audience. El Larguero, with José Ramón de la Morena, remains the benchmark for sports news and has widened its lead over its closest rival by more than 700,000 listeners. In total, the show has 1,167,000 daily listeners, giving it almost 18 uninterrupted years of audience lead.

The new format A vivir que son dos días with Javier del Pino is also an extraordinary hit with listeners. The show reported one of its best results ever on both Saturdays and Sundays. On Saturdays the program reaches 2,108,000 listeners and Sundays it recorded 1,812,000 listeners.

Carrusel Deportivo, with Manu Carreño and Ponseti, continues to attract new listeners and widen its lead over rivals. Carrusel has 1,549,000 Saturday listeners, more than double its nearest competitor, and 2.175 million listeners on Sundays, also more than double its rival. Sunday’s broadcast has attracted almost 700,000 new listeners, opening a huge lead over the competition. The vast majority of Spaniards continue to follow the League on Carrusel..

PRISA’s music stations also remain top of the charts. 

40 Principales maintains a comfortable lead and remains Spain’s favorite music station, with 3.844 million listeners.

Cadena Dial and Máxima fm continue to grow and both have set new audience figure records. Cadena Dial, the Spanish-language music station, has become the second most popular music station  in Spain, reaching 2,444,000 listeners, and dance music statio Maxima FM increased its audience by 114,000, reaching 836,000 listeners daily.

Meanwhile, M80 Radio remains the favorite for adult contemporary music with 559,000 listeners.

EL PAÍS remains clear leader among the general-interest non-giveaway press in Spain. The paper reported 1,929,000 readers, 748,000 more than El Mundo (+63,3%). In comparison with other daily newspapers, the lead enjoyed by El País is even greater: 1.281 million more than ABC (+197,6%) and 1.645 million more than La Razón (+604%)

Sports paper AS has 1.48 million readers and remains the third-ranking non-giveaway paper, with a lead over the fourth-ranking paper (El Mundo) of 299,000. Business and finance daily Cinco Días has 58,000 readers.

Among the Sunday supplements, EL PAIS SEMANAL has 1,709,000 readers. Together with Dominical, with which it jointly markets advertising, the total figure is 2,155,000 readers. The new women's supplement SMODA, reported 272,000 readers, a 7.9% increase on the previous audit.
