Grupo PRISA has been honored with the Latin American Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, awarded by the Ecumenical Social Forum. Juan Luis Cebrian, executive chair of the company, accepted the award at a ceremony held on November 25 at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid.

PRISA achieved the highest scores in all four areas evaluated by the committee assessing the Group’s performance: economic, institutional, environmental and social.

Cebrián said that all divisions of PRISA (Santillana, audiovisual and press) are involved in championing human rights and freedom of expression and conscience, and explained that, in this respect, "social responsibility is not merely a complement or ancillary, but an inherent part of the Group

The jury praised the work of PRISA as a role model for socially responsible companies that strive to meet the expectations of a range of stakeholders: customers and users, employees, shareholders, suppliers and society in general. "There is complete consistency between the overall strategy and the sustainability of the organization, as well as the actual measures that have been implemented, showing a continued commitment over time to CSR," said the jury. Noteworthy is the fact that PRISA voluntarily produced its 2015 report in accordance with the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 guidelines a full year before these rules came into force. These will now be compulsory from 2016.

The aim of the awards, which celebrated their ninth year, is to strengthen the culture of social responsibility in its broadest and most inclusive sense, to help establish international standards, to highlight the CSR status of Latin American companies and NGOs, and to pay tribute to best practice in the area of social responsibility.

The Ecumenical Social Forum is a private non-profit body operating in the Ibero-American world. Since its inception, it has organized debates, seminars and exhibitions in Spain. It is composed of prominent NGO leaders, business managers, university professors and religious leaders of different faiths.
