29-11-2013

The fifth edition of the Rolling Stone Awards took place last night at the Teatro Kapital in Madrid. Presented by the model Nieves Alvarez and the rock star Loquillo, the lively gala was attended by numerous celebrities from the worlds of music and fashion.

The Rolling Stone Awards were established in 2009 to pay tribute to the careers and work of major music stars and groups. This year, the honorary award paid tribute to the artist Rosendo, who picked up the Life of Rock prize from his son Rodrigo Mercado. The Best Album of the year, as voted by readers of Rolling Stone, was Delantera Mitica by Quique González. Loquillo, Ariel Rot and Leiva received the award for best tour of the year for Uno de los nuestros.

Rolling Stone is about so much more than music, and the award for Artist of the Year went to filmmaker Enrique Urbizu; the Fashion & Rock award was won by Poppy Delevingne; and the Canal + program Un lugar llamado mundo won the award for Best TV show.

The best newcomer of the year was Izal, another of the categories chosen by readers of the magazine. Iván Ferreiro’s Pajaro Azul was voted Best Song by readers of Rolling Stone and Fangoria received the award for Best Group for their constant reinventions.

The special award for Best international artist went to Pete Doherty for his influence on an entire generation thanks to both his solo career and with his band The Libertines.

Finally, the award for best soloist of the year went to La Mala Rodríguez.
